25 Aug. 2023 -- St. Louis -- Clouds and trees frame the Apotheosis of St. Louis, a sculpture honoring St. Louis IX of France, monarch of France (1226-1270) and namesake of the city of St. Louis, Missouri, on a summer afternoon in Forest Park Friday, Aug. 25, 2023. The statue was sculpted by Charles Henry Niehaus and went on public display during the 1904 World’s Fair held in St. Louis. After the fair it was re-cast in bronze by W.R. Hodges and presented to the city by the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Company, which ran the 1904 World’s Fair. It is now displayed in front of the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park in St. Louis.
