22 DEC. 2011 -- ST. LOUIS -- Shakiyla Young (left) and Charwanda Hill, cousins of Anthony Lamar Smith, console one another Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 during a candlelight vigil in St. Louis remembering Smith, who died Wednesday after exchanging gunfire with police during a chase. The vigil was held in the Church's Fried Chicken parking lot in the Walnut Park neighborhood where police attempted to arrest Smith after observing what officers believed to be a drug transaction. Smith resisted arrest, resulting in a police chase that culminated in a confrontation where officers shot Smith. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
