10 Dec. 2021 -- unincorporated Mehlville, Mo. -- Ann Wittman (center), a parishioner at Holy Infant Parish who is assisting Farid Wardack (left), a refugee from Afghanistan who recently relocated with his family to St. Louis, talks with translator Muzhda Siddiqui of Global Village Language Center Friday, Dec. 10, 2021 at the Missouri State Highway Patrol testing center on Koch Road in the Mehlville, Mo., area. Wittman, a parishioner at Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin, has teamed with her cousin Delia Andrews of Ste. Genevieve du Bois Parish in Warson Woods to help the Wardaks navigate life in their new country. In Afghanistan Farid Wardak worked with the US government, and was able to flee the country with this family as the Taliban returned to control of the country in August.
