Students, faculty, alumni and friends from Washington University in St. Louis gathered for the 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration "The Prophetic Voice: A Time to Break the Silence - Social Justice and Progress are the Absolute Guarantors of Riot Prevention” at Graham Chapel on the Danforth Campus in St. Louis Monday, Jan. 20, 2015. Kimberly Norwood, Professor of Law, was the keynote speaker, and civili rights leader Norman R. Seay received the Rosa L. Parks Award. Audience members stand in solidarity with campus protesters who interrupted the event to demonstrate solidarity with Ferguson protestors in remembrance of Michael Brown. Brown, a teenager from nearby Ferguson, Mo., was shot and killed during the summer in a confrontation with Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
