12 Dec. 2021 -- Ellisville, Mo. -- Lailuma Luddin (left), an Afghani immigrant who works at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, talks with Fahima Wardak and her children Farman Wardak (center), 1, and Fariha Wardak, 6, during a Holiday Party hosted by Ann Wittman at her home in Ellisville, Mo., Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021. The Wardak family recently relocated to St. Louis. Wittman, a parishioner at Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin, has teamed with her cousin Delia Andrews of Ste. Genevieve du Bois Parish in Warson Woods to help the Wardaks navigate life in their new country. In Afghanistan Farid Wardak worked with the US government, and was able to flee the country with this family as the Taliban returned to control of the country in August.
