9 Dec. 2021 -- Affton, Mo. -- Farid Wardack (left), a refugee from Afghanistan who recently relocated with his family to St. Louis, checks on his son Farman, 1, while St. Louisan Delia Andrews helps other members of the Wardak family at their apartment in Affton, Mo. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021. Andrews, a parishioner at Ste. Genevieve du Bois Parish in Warson Woods, has teamed with her cousin Ann Wittman of Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin to help the Wardaks navigate life in their new country. In Afghanistan Farid Wardak worked with the US government, and was able to flee the country with this family as the Taliban returned to control of the country in August.
