9 Dec. 2021 -- Affton, Mo. -- Farid Wardack (left), a refugee from Afghanistan who recently relocated with his family to St. Louis, joins St. Louisan Delia Andrews in securing child seats in Andrew’s car at the Wardak family apartment in Affton, Mo. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021. Wardak’s wife, Fahima Wardak, is eight months pregnant and had a doctor’s appoint that morning, Andrews, a parishioner at Ste. Genevieve du Bois Parish in Warson Woods, has teamed with her cousin Ann Wittman of Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin to help the Wardaks navigate life in their new country. In Afghanistan Farid Wardak worked with the US government, and was able to flee the country with this family as the Taliban returned to control of the country in August.
