Author and professor Amy Chua, the John M. Duff Jr. Professor of Law at Yale University, joined former US Senator John C. Danforth for a discussion "Overcoming Political Tribalism And Recovering Our American Democracy" at Graham Chapel on the Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. The conversation highlighted Chua's recent book "Political Tribes: Group Instinct and the Fate of Nations." She is also the author of the NY Times bestsellers "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" and "World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability." The event was sponsored by the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University and the Washington University School of Law. WU Chancellor Andrew Martin introduced the speakers, and Nancy Staudt, Dean of the School of Law, and Marie Griffith, Director of the Danforth Center, moderated questions.
