8 June 2024 -- Hazelwood, Mo. -- Young members of the Sacred Heart Syro-Malabar Catholic Mission St. Louis community enjoy ice cream during the festival following Pradakshinam (procession) as part of the Sacred Heart Thirunal Saturday, June 8, 2024 at St. Martin de Porres Church in Hazelwood, Mo. The procession included statues of the Blessed Mother, St. Sebastian and St. Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception, along with the South Asian percussion group Detroit Kalakshetra and the Blessed Sacrament. The community, which primarily serves Catholics from India, is part of the Syro Malabar Eparchy of Chicago, one of 22 Eastern Catholic Churches in communion with Rome. Photo by Sid Hastings.
