MCT SJH WILLIAM SHEMIN 01.JPG
17 DEC. 2011 -- LABADIE, Mo. -- US Army Sgt. William Shemin was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross during World War I for saving the lives three comrades before being wounded in battle. His daughter, Elsie Shemin-Roth, and others with knowledge of WWI believe he should have been considered for a Congressional Medal of Honor for his exploits. Here Shemin poses for a photograph during the war. He served with Company G, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division of the American Expeditionary Force. (courtesy Elsie Shemin-Roth)
